Trying to register a blog, getting a strange error

  I am trying to create the blog: foggydew.wordpress.com but whenever i attempt to register it gives me this error:

  

  When i tried to search for the blog, obviously interested in who had the domain i wanted it redirects me to this screen:

  

  By now my confusion has reached its peak, and i once again click create, and get the error again.

  I this where you went to sign up?

  (but it appears that blog-name is already taken)

  yes, and then i typed the url into my address bar and it showed that the name was free…

  That happened to me once as well.

  It was for someone I know. I checked to see if the blog was available and it appeared it was. She had gone ahead and signed up for the name already and it was in fact taken by her.

  It (foggydew) does appear to be taken. Try a variation.

  But there isn’t a blog at that url, is it just not configured yet or is it some sort of error?

  There have been recent errors other have been getting when attempting to register new blogs. The error they got was that the blog was “reserved”. Mark “fixed” these. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/search.php?q=reserved I think this may be related and definitely ought to be reported. http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/
