Trying to register a new username, but email is in use
-
Hi,
I’m trying to follow the advice about making a new username for a blog in the same account from an old forum thread (advice given by timethief), and I’m having trouble with the email part. It says that the email I entered is already in use and I’ve looked on my account but it isn’t the same email address. I’d prefer not to create a new email address just for the sake of making a new WordPress username. Help? Thank you.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

P.S. The blog I’m needing help with is http://ambrosiateaparty.wordpress.com. It’s already set to private.

Accounts have to have unique email addresses. You cannot use the same one for multiple accounts.
You can go to live.com, or get a yahoo or gmail email account to sign up for the new username, or you can change the email on the existing account (to a gmail email, etc.) and then use your regular email address for the new username.

Thank you, that is what I’ve done. I’m trying to use a different email address than the one I already have for the other blogs registered under my account but it says that it is already in use.

Yes, that’s what I’ve done so far. I’m following the instructions from an old forum thread (from about two years ago, I think) that was outlined by a member called timethief.
The thing that has me confused is that this email address I’m trying to use is my primary email address but it is apparently already in use, though not by me as I have checked my profile info, which has a different email address other than my primary email. Would it be possible for another WordPress user to use my email address without my knowledge? Would Support be able to help in this case? I know that it’s down at the moment, but when it’s up again…
