Trying to remove an attachment hosted by my wordpress
-
Hello —
A couple years ago, I posted a pdf attachment of my resume to WordPress. Now I realize I can actually search for it when Googling in my contact details. How can I prevent this result from popping up? I’ve already removed the file from my wordpress ‘library’, as well as deleting the post that contained the link to the PDF. What else can I do?
Many thanks —

- What is the URL?
- When was the PDF deleted from your Media Library?
- Have you cleared your browser cache https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache since the deletion?

To keep things running quickly around here, files are held in multiple caches through a separate system. These caches are usually cleared within 3 days and the files will then become 404 page not found.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Deleting public blogs and/or blog content from them does not remove indexed content from the SERPs (search engine page results). Google and Bing only clear their caches of deleted indexed content that produces a 404 (page not found) every 3 – 6 months. To completely remove an entire page from Google search results after it produces a 404 (page not found):

If you have the exact link to the pdf, that would be helpful.
If the file has been deleted on our system and the google link is what you are referring to, that is not something WordPress.com has any control over, I’m afraid. Google will update their results eventually.
