Trying to remove site name footer content
-
I’m using the Stow theme and have a footer with my websites name stuck on it, “Highly Sensitive Healing”. I’ve gone through all the footer settings I can find in the theme but can’t seem to get rid of this. I can add one of the standard WordPress footers to it and it shows up after the “Highly Sensitive Healing” text. I wouldn’t mind using the footer.php to edit this but can’t seem to find this file on this theme. I tried testing “.site-info { display: none; }” in the additional CSS block and that does get rid of the unwanted text, but for SEO reasons I don’t want to use that method. Can someone please help direct me on how to get rid of this odd footer? Is there a footer.php file available that I’m missing here?

Hi there,
Are you speaking of the link at the very bottom?
Many WordPress themes, including Stow, display the site title at the bottom of the page like this, often also along with the name of the theme.
I tried testing “.site-info { display: none; }” in the additional CSS block and that does get rid of the unwanted text, but for SEO reasons I don’t want to use that method.
Hiding the link using CSS is by far the simplest way to do this, and Google won’t block or penalise your site for hiding a single link in the footer. Google’s policy against hidden content is to prevent spammers from stuffing their site full of keywords to game search engines without that being visible to site visitors. Both the human reviewers at Google and Google’s algorithms are smart enough to tell the difference between someone trying to game their search ranking, and someone hiding a single link for aesthetic reasons.
That said, if you prefer to not use CSS for this, you can try this plugin:
In the first text box, for the code you want to remove, paste this:
<a class="site-name" href="https://highlysensitivehealing.com/" rel="home">Highly Sensitive Healing</a>And leave the second box blank.
The third method is to create a child theme of your site’s theme, and edit the theme’s files in the child theme. While it’s possible to do this on our Business Plan, we don’t provide support for creating child themes on WordPress.com

Also note that your plan gives you access to both live chat and direct email support. You can reach those at any time by clicking the Help icon that appears bottom-right on all the My Sites pages, or else via the direct link at https://wordpress.com/help/contact
