Trying to report an unapproved comment

  Trying to report a comment made on one of my blogs. This comment is suggesting an inappropriate pedophilia intention and I would like this person to be known.

  The comment is in my pending approvals menu and I am not given the option to report this content from the drop down menu.

  The user who inappropriately commented is listed below.

  The email address: (email visible only to moderators and staff)
  User Name: Holt william

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Hi there!

  I’ve seen the comment and it is by all means inappropriate. However, I’m afraid that we don’t have a mechanism that allows you to report comments of that nature. The best course of action is to delete it or leave it unapproved. As I look at your current discussion settings, comments have to be approved before they appear on your blog.

  I suggest you leave it that way for the moment in case that person comes back and posts another comment.

  So you you’re saying you can’t even deactivate there account or send them a warning?

  If they have a blog, you can go to the blog, look for violations of the Terms of Service, and report it.

  Excuse the bad spelling. I am just very concerned that nothing can be done about this comment. Joke or not, it seems to me like something should be said by WordPress that discourages the violation of children.

  Hi there!

  I would like to clarify that we never condone such behaviour. However, inappropriate comments are a little harder to control as these can be done anonymously, such as the one you reported. Upon verifying, the commenter does not have a WordPress.com account or a blog.

  If you would like only registered users to leave comments on your site, please go to Settings -> Discussion in your admin panel and check the “Users must be registered and logged in to comment” option.
