Trying to restore deleted content of post
-
jacquesjangoux.wordpress.com Windows XP – Firefox and Chrome
I was editing a new post in draft mode (Trekking in Canyon del Muerto -Canyon de Chelly National Monument) when suddenly all the contents (text and images) disappeared, except the title. It may have been caused by a security plugin that Brazilian banks have and that sometimes appears for no reason, freezing the computer.
I read:
‘Restoring from Trash
Enter the Trash status/folder of either your posts, or pages and place your cursor over any item you wish to restore. You will see two linked options: Restore and Delete Permanently. Click on the Restore link: ‘
but I could not find the ‘Trash status/folder’ or any restore link.
How do I find that folder? (I work alternatively on Firefox and Chrome, I found that the editing pages have a different layout, so if your instructions are browser-specific, please let me know).
Thank you for your help!

Now my 2 drafts have disapearred… That plugin appeared again (I was on Firefox where the plugin is). It shows as a Windows message asking if I want to debug it. When I do the site works again for a while, until the message appears again.

The Admin login link for that site is

The saved draft posts are found at
http://jacquesjangoux.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php?post_status=draft&post_type=postThe saved draft pages are found at
http://jacquesjangoux.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php?post_status=draft&post_type=pageStaff are working on improving post and page revisions. The most recent 25 revisions are available for posts and pages.
If you cannot restore from your browser, or locate a revision, or restore from Trash then the content has been lost and cannot be recovered.
re: recovering a lost post or page
Please go to https://wordpress.com/post with the same browser and see if it offers to restore a post. If a restore button appears, that means a local copy was saved in your browser and you may be able to recover it.If the post was created on the dashboard of your own blog at Dashboard > Pages > Add New then you ought to be able to recover a lost post or page from revisions if needed.

I recommend:
1. Always create your posts on the dashboard of your own blog at
Dashboard > Posts > Add New and pages at Dashboard > Pages > Add New
If you have cookies enabled on your browser your preference will be saved unless or until your clear your cookies, and it will take you to the classic editor automatically every time you create a new post via the drop-down menu in the black admin bar or edit a post via the edit button on the blog itself. You cannot deactivate the new editor but you do not have to use it. For locating the ways and means of accessing the legacy or classic pages for creating posts, editing posts, and viewing stats see here > Navigating the Classic WordPress.COM interface http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2015/04/05/navigating-the-classic-wordpress-com-interface/
2. Immediately after creating a post and entering a title click the save draft link. Thereafter, “click save draft” frequently.
3. Always allow pages to fully load before clicking any other links.
4. Never leave a post or page open for content creation or editing and walk away from it, or open another tab in the same blog and work on something else while it is still open. Save it properly and return to edit it later.
5. Use an offline blog editor so you have backups on your own computer http://en.support.wordpress.com/xml-rpc/
If you were using the app you could report that here https://apps.wordpress.org/support/

It may have been caused by a security plugin that Brazilian banks have and that sometimes appears for no reason, freezing the computer.
If you are reading anything that makes you think that we bloggers can install plugins, custom themes or third party themes on sites hosted by wordpress.COM, then you are mistaken/misinformed. We have never had that ability. You are confusing wordpress.COM hosted blogs and wordpress.ORG installs on paid hosting.
Blogger installed plugin capability does not exist on WordPress.COM blogs and there is no upgrade you can purchase here that changes that reality. Permalink structure cannot be changed on sites hosted by wordpress.com
For that type of functionality, you’d need a self-hosted WordPress.ORG software install running on a paid web hosting service.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/ftp-access/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/plugins/See: Moving to Self-Hosted WordPress
https://move.wordpress.com/WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
As you are referring to a site that is not hosted here, if you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG account, then click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right-hand corner of the page that opens, https://wordpress.org/support/register.php so you can post to the support forums there.

Thank you timethief. I will try your suggestions and let you know.
The plugin is one that Brazilian banks make you install on your browser for security reasons, it has nothing to do with WordPress. I googled it, and apparently it causes problems.
Best, Jacques
