Trying to set up a new blog with very few graphics and a lot of prose.

How do I do that? I don’t need graphics, but I do need to be able to edit large pieces of prose, arranging indents, paragraphing etc — book format, in short.

First of all, you will want to choose a theme for your site, as that will determine how your site looks like. Here you can see some of the minimal ones:
