Trying to Set Up my Podcast site
-
I keep trying to complete set up of my podcast site (through your partnership with Anchor) and it keeps reading ‘Something went wrong.’

Hi there,
This is an error message you see within your WordPress.com dashboard? Or is it something you see when you are trying to connect at Anchor.fm?
Also can you confirm that you are using a new Anchor.fm account created through this link? https://wordpress.com/support/create-anchor-podcast/
At this time it is not possible to connect an existing Anchor account (if you have one) so to make a successful connection it must be a new account. We do not have an option at this time to connect an existing account manually.
Thanks for the additional info!

Hi
I actually did just set up the pod cast today so it’s brand new. Anchor gave me the option to connect with WordPress so that is the link (from their website) I used. The link you sent is new to me, and just now would be the first time I’m seeing that page.
Through out the day though, in checking my WordPress Dashboard, I saw where it was actually being set up, and all my tries resulted in multiple copies of the site being created. all saying “coming soon.” Not sure How to proceed from there, to narrow it down to one necessary site. I found out that my issue was that my email not having been verified, but there was no prompt from the error page when creating the site. I only saw the prompt after some how being re-directed to my WordPress Dashboard.
So a little iffy there but I believe it would be more helpful if on the set up page that serves to connect brand new anchor podcasts with WordPress, if a few trouble shoot options are there on the page somewhere to jog person’s thinking. The “Something Went wrong” one liner I found to be a little vague. Most persons might not be as versed to be able to navigate around.
I will say I was grateful for the ability to contact support. Though support from forums instead of WordPress direct support was a bit interesting. Imagine my surprise to actually get a response. So THANK YOU!

Hi again,

The “Something Went wrong” one liner I found to be a little vague. Most persons might not be as versed to be able to navigate around.
Thank you for that feedback. Some of the connection process is difficult for us to help with (as a lot of that happens at Anchor.fm) so it sounds like this is an error message on their end and not something that is under our control.
To clarify, once you verified your email you did not see the “something went wrong” message anymore? If so I’d like to make the rest of the team here aware as we’ve had some trouble understanding this error message ourselves as well.
I will say I was grateful for the ability to contact support. Though support from forums instead of WordPress direct support was a bit interesting. Imagine my surprise to actually get a response. So THANK YOU!
We do provide priority support options (including live chat) through our upgrade plans listed here. With that said our forums here for free sites are managed by staff, so we do our best to reply as soon as we can to post left here as well.
Hope that helps, and thanks for rocking WordPress.com! :)
