Trying to setup a affiliate blog
-
I’m trying to setup a affiliate blog to make money. Can anyone help me to do this? I know I need to get a domain name and hosting but I don’t know what order to do all this. I know the blog setup is first but I don’t know what to name it because I don’t know what affiliate program I will be doing since I can’t find them. Sorry I guess I have gotten confused on how to do this.
Thank you in advance for the help.
Sincerely,
PeggyThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

What that means is that if you want adverts on your blog, you have to host your blog independently and use software from wordpress. ORG
(mapping won’t work either: your blog has to be totally independently hosted)

I want to share with you one site that I got this idea from. He said that he is using wordpress to do this. I want to do that too. This is his site below for making money thru affiliate program.
[snip – please: no affiliate marketing on these forums. Thanks]
If you follow that link it should take you to his wordpress site. Let me know what you think.

There are tons of threads about monetizing your blog. Here are two:

@peggyrussell, you will have to self-host a blog on a third-party web hosting service in order to monetize it. It cannot be done here at wordpress.COM.
Check out this link: http://wordpress.ORG/hosting/ for some hosting services that work well with the wordpress.ORG software. You can hire someone to set things up for you if you do not have that experience, but that is not necessarily the best way to go in my opinion since once things are set up, you are then responsible for all upgrades, all installations, all backups and all troubleshooting. If something goes wrong with the blog, then you will have to figure it out and fix it.
Figure an average total monthly cost of $10 to $25 generally for basic costs.
You should also think about the fact that most people setting up advertising blogs or blogs with advertising on them typically make $100 per YEAR or less, which isn’t going to cover your costs.
Not saying you should not do it, just letting you know that it can be a lot of work, and if you have dollar signs in your eyes, you might be disappointed in the results. Web advertising revenues have plunged in the last couple years and many affiliate ad networks have reduced what they pay, so it is very difficult to make a living off the web.

Thank you both for the information. I really need to find something to work from home. This sounded like what I was needing. Do you all have any ideas on what will make money online?

That google slapper is something that came in my e-mail. I thought it would bring in money but…….

@peggyrussell
I sort of thought so. You asked my opinion, but I gave you information (as did Richard).I don’t know how to make money online. I’m just a food blogger, but some of the real expert volunteers earn money by helping other people with their sites: design, fixing things when they go wrong, advise etc.
I do manage to work part-time, sometimes maintaining the website for the non-profit I work for. Other than than, I’m sorry to say I don’t know how to advise.
Maybe you saved a little money just now not going for that scamming looking opportunity, though.

Then may the dream continue.
Oh, you and I don’t communicate/know each other, but still, from reading your blogs and comments on the forums you are such a fine person, and I wish you the very most best…
