trying to sign up with email address to follow blog having trouble

  I have a friend who has been trying to sign up to follow my blog and her email address isn’t going through and signing her up. What do I do?

  Hi Karen,

  I’m sorry to hear that your friend is having troubles! What is your friend’s email address? Don’t worry about posting it here, it will appear as [email redacted] to the public, but I’ll be able to see it.

  In most cases like this, someone’s spam filter is catching any signup emails we send, or else in gmail they might be getting the email routed through to their social media tabs. We might have to ask your friend to contact us directly so that we can run through what is going on directly with her. Is she already a WordPress.com user, or is the issue that signing up to WordPress.com going awry?

  Her address is (email visible only to moderators and staff). I don’t think she’s a WordPress user but not sure! I am sure she’s involved with other social media like Facebook, etc.

  Hi Karen,

  I just searched our system and was unable to find any reference to that email address anywhere. This means that however she is attempting to follow your blog, she has been entirely unsuccessful.

  Your friend has a few options. She can sign up for a WordPress.com user account (which is just used for following blogs) right here:

  https://signup.wordpress.com/signup/?user=1

  Or of course she can set up her own username AND blog right here:

  https://signup.wordpress.com/signup/

  Alternatively she can just follow your blog via email. To do so she should visit your site and click on the “Follow” button which should appear at the bottom of your page to anyone who is logged out. When she does, she’ll be prompted to type in her email address. Like I said, she’ll want to check to make sure that nothing is getting filtered to her spam folder or she won’t get any of your messages.

  Finally, if she happens to use a Feed Reader (RSS aggregator) such as Feedly, she can subscribe to your RSS feed by using the URL:

  http://stringofdogs.wordpress.com/feed/
