Trying to transfer a blog over

Having followed transfer instructions I get an error message saying. You cannot transfer to that user. I am entering the user’s email address which is a BT address. Can anyone help me.

I asked those questions because the blog’s owner must be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard and transfer the blog to another username account. https://en.support.wordpress.com/transferring-a-site-to-another-wordpress-com-account/
In the box that appears, enter the username or email address of the WordPress.com user you wish to transfer the site to, then click Transfer Blog.
Have you tried entering the username instead?
