Trying to upgrade my plan

I’m trying to get another domain name and upgrade my plan, and I’m stuck in the payment part of it. I only get undefined error messages, and the AI assistant isn’t helping.
It tells me I need to contact human support, but when I write the commandline to do such, it say’s I can’t contact human support without a paid plan.
What am I supposed to do from here? I know that my bank isn’t blocking payment, I’ve asked.

  • Hello,

Thank you for being part of the WordPress.com community and for contacting us. I’m sorry to hear that you are having trouble upgrading your plan, and I’m happy to help you find a solution.

I found the transactions in our payment system, confirming that we show multiple attempts to make a purchase, but each one resulted in an error code stating “authentication_required.” Typically, this means that your card requires some form of authentication for security purposes, such as a one-time password sent by your card issuer (usually via text/email) or approving the transaction in your bank app. Did you receive a verification message from your card issuer when attempting the purchase? Did you check to see if pop-ups are blocked on the browser you are using?

If you are not receiving a verification message and the card still declines with an “authentication_required” error code, we typically refer you to the bank that issued the card. I realize that you have asked the bank already, but it may be worthwhile to reach out again and ask specifically about potential issues related to the Strong Customer Authentication requirements for purchases in Europe.

Another solution might be trying a different form of payment (a different credit card, PayPal, etc.); additional information about payment methods is described here.

If neither of these solutions resolves the issue, we would be happy to troubleshoot further. If you need additional help, I recommend submitting the follow-up support request via the email option rather than in the forum (due to the confidential nature of financial transactions).

    Cheers,
    Kyle

  • Hi there,

I wanted to follow up on my colleague’s reply and ask you to also try using Google or Apple Pay to make the payment, as sometimes they work better than the direct debit. You can read more about it here:
