trying to use an asterisk – keeps converting to list

    I want to use an asterisk as it is often used: to refer to a footnote further down the page.

    I found this post from 2016:

    everytime I start a sentance with * it creates a list. when I edit the html it just puts it right back.

    and the settings are slightly different, but I toggled it on and off.

    maybe I can put some white type in front of it? I’;m flummoxed.
