trying to use divi after loading it up
-
I’m new to wordpress and I have a divi account I want to use but I keep getting a ‘sever fail’ dialogue screen. How do I resolve this so I can begin working on my first template site?

Hi there,
Judging by the site connected to your WordPress.com account it looks like you’re using the open-source WordPress software and therefore you need to seek help at these forums:
https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
The forum you’re currently posting is for WordPress.com hosted sites only. If you want to know more about the differences between WordPress.com and the WordPress software you can read this document:

Thanks Fstat!
Yes I think you are right, that’s where my confusion is. So how do I resolve this?Do I cancel my wordpress “essential plan” subscription with my web provider and just work on my site through wordpress? Because it’s obviously creating a conflict. I’m thinking I really don’t understand the need for it.
All I want to do is use wordpress/Divi as a page builder that’s hosted by my provider.

To clear up any further confusion, there is WordPress.com and WordPress.org, and they are two different entities.
We, WordPress.com, are a cloud-based platform where we manage WordPress sites, whereas WordPress.org is stand-alone software that you can download and self-host with any other hosting.
You can find more details about WordPress.com and WordPress.org on this support page:
https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/
So, if you already paying for hosting elsewhere, you will want to work on that site and, if you need help, you will reach out to your host or post to the community forums: https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
If you would like to transfer your site to WordPress.com, to be able to use Divi or any other third-party theme or plugin, you would need to purchase plan Business.
I hope that helps :)
Let me know if you have any more questions regarding that.

YES, ugh man I was so lost, I really appreciate the hand holding. I had no idea about the .com and .org.
I have it under control now.
thanks again
