Trying, without success, to delete outdated wordpress.com site
-
Hi,
I forgot that I left my sister’s WordPress.com-based site up called https://triciaanddougswedding.wordpress.com up and now I can’t figure out how to delete it. I thought that by deleting its root (I thought) blog ‘Livingwithcptsdblog.wordpress.com, it would disappear and the latter did – but the wedding site remains. How can I get rid of it?The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Each site on WordPressdotcom is a standalone site. Deleting one site will not delete another site (thankfully!).
Only the person who registered triciaanddougswedding.wordpress.com on WordPressdotcom can delete it following these instructions: https://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/
-
Yes, I’m aware of that procedure. However, I cannot access the site’s back-end / admin panel so I cannot take that route.
Way back in 2009, I recall setting up the site through Jetpack. I think this might be the complicating factor. Any suggestions?
-
To the best of my knowledge, using Jetpack wouldn’t have any influence here.
If you cannot access the site’s back end, then you don’t have a sufficient user role level in this current username account and perhaps need to be logged in with a different username account.
I’ve tagged this for Staff assistance as they may be able to see something here behind the scenes.

Hi there,
The site triciaanddougswedding.wordpress.com is owned by lifeasis. You will need to login to that account in order to delete the site.
If you are unable to remember the login details, you can reset the password using either the username or email address:
https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword
Hope this helps!

I do recall “lifeasis” but the WordPress system does not.
I typed it in and the system reverted to “patriciadougswedding” which is a username.
Is there any way of re-constructing “lifeasis”? Is there a master alternative pathway into sites?
-
There is no “alternative pathway” into a WordPressdotcom site. Either you have access to the site dashboard or you do not. If you cannot reset the lifeasis account password using the link that @gemmacevans supplied, then you can try the account recovery process: https://en.support.wordpress.com/account-recovery/#account-recovery-form
Failing recovery of the lifeasis account, there is no way to delete that site.

Hi @patriciadougswedding, make sure you are logged out first. You might even try an incognito browser window. Then if you have the right password you can log into the correct account.
-
Oh ha! Thanks @supernovia for pointing out that extra step of being logged out first. :)
-
I know that tip because it happened to me once when resetting a password. If you’re already logged into another account, it’ll stay logged in.
Cheers, folks :)
