Tumblr Backup Failed

    Hey! I was trying to export my tumblr over here and it said if the importer was taking an exceptionally long time, I could clear the account information and start over, but when I tried, it both stopped the import and won’t let me restart. It keeps saying I can only have one import running at a time, even though there are no imports still running at all.

    Due to the changes at tumblr there is currently heavy traffic at the WordPress.com importer so please be patient as staff work through the backlog. They need to reset your importer themselves.

    Apologies for any confusion, I deleted and started over. Trying again with popatochispmusic.wordpress.com and trying to be more patient while the import runs, but it’s definitely still been a couple hours and I have a relatively small tumblr to import (under 1000 posts).

    Hi @popatochisssp, thanks for starting that. The main issue isn’t so much the size of your import as the many imports that are all being processed right now. So yours is queued up and waiting for others to finish — and there are many, and some are pretty big. Can you give that 24 hours, and if it’s still not complete, reply here? We’ll check on its status for you then.

    Hello, checking back in on this! It’s been 24 hours since I started trying to export. Is this normal with the increased traffic from tumblr or is there an issue?

    Hi –

    Based on the status it looks like your import is about to start. The delay is abnormal, and yes, it is because of the number of Tumblr blogs being imported.

    Do not cancel the job once it has started. Make sure that your Tumblr blog remains connected to WordPress.com through the process.

    Once the import is initiated it should complete with in 24 hours.

    Hi! Sorry to keep checking in on this, I just want to make sure nothing is wrong since it’s been about 48 hours since I originally started trying and the import has not yet begun.

    I’m still assuming this is because of the tumblr backlog (which is totally fine and I understand completely!) but if mine is stuck and I need to take some sort of action, I want to stay on top of that. :)

    Hi there,

    I’ve double checked to confirm your import is still queued. It didn’t cancel. But please do reconnect to your Tumblr account if you’ve disconnected it, as that could be preventing it from starting.

    We’re processing quite a few imports from Tumblr at the moment, which is causing a backlog of imports in our system. While it may look like your import failed, it’s just in line for processing, and luckily it’s still in the queue. At this point I’m not able to give an estimate on how long it might take to catch up with the backlog, though.
