tumblr import at 24hs (24000+ posts)

It’s a pretty big blog I’m importing so I don’t know the reasonable length of time it’d take to import, but the stats all show 0 still after 24 hours. Is there something stuck on my end? Is it safe to refresh the import page and see if that will update the counter more accurately?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

I’ve double checked to confirm your import is indeed still queued and it’s going to start soon. It didn’t cancel. But please do reconnect to your Tumblr account if you’ve disconnected it. And please be patient and keep your connection from Tumblr. Do not try to cancel your import.

We’re processing quite a few imports from Tumblr at the moment, which is causing a backlog of imports in our system. While it may look like your import failed, it’s just in line for processing, and luckily it’s still in the queue. Please allow this to run for the next 24 hours, and if it hasn’t completed by then, update us here.

Please take a look at this thread if you haven’t already: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/tumblr-imports/

    Thank you for your patience.

Ah, I see! Thank you very much for your response. I haven’t cancelled or disconnected anything on the off chance that the process could be resumed from whichever point it was stuck at, but hearing that it’s simply in a queue is understandable. I’ll leave it be for another day or so and check back.

Good luck with all the other imports in the queue! Seems like a lot is coming y’alls way!

It’s been several days and the import seems to be stuck at the same number for a couple days now. I read up on the pinned post that says it could be due to some material or going over a limit, so is there any way to check if either of those conditions flagged for my import?

  • @avecpardon I checked it for you and this one had stopped. You’re welcome to go ahead and import again.

If you suspect you’ll run out of space, please go ahead and upgrade prior to importing, so you won’t have to import again after this.

I’m sorry, I think it got stuck again. I left it alone for a few days to see if the number updated itself.

    Hi avecpardon,

The import had stopped again so I’ve reset the importer, ready for you to try again. Be sure to leave your Tumblr account connected as disconnecting it could prevent the import from starting.

I’m terribly sorry but it’s gotten stuck again. The progress made has been a lot further along each time it restarts so I suppose that’s a good thing at least, yes?

  • @avecpardon it likely is! I’ve reset it again for you. Can you have a look over the considerations listed here?

I’m wondering if embed codes are getting you stuck, for example. If so, clearing those out may help. With many cases if you want to embed here, you just paste a link to the content on youtube, etc.

It doesn’t look like it’s been reset, may a mod look into the import process again? And what counts as an embed code? Videos put into text posts? Gifs in replies? Are those what you mean?

  • Hi there,

I’ve reset the Tumblr importer for your site so you can try again. Posts already on your WordPress.com site will be skipped by the importer.

If this still doesn’t work or you have more questions, just let me know and I’ll be happy to help!

Well, it’s been a couple weeks now and the transfer has been stuck on the same number for a while now. Could I get another reset and see if that clears it up?

  • Hey there,

I reset the Tumblr import for you. Please let us know if you need any further assistance.
