Tumblr Import – Custom Domain Won't Clear
-
I’ve tried everything suggested in every thread related to this, but there is seemingly no solution to the issue where an import from Tumblr to WordPress is blocked due to a custom domain.
- I’ve removed the custom domain on Tumblr
- I’ve updated the DNS and triple checked to ensure that there’s nothing else still connected related to the custom Tumblr domain
- I’ve removed the WordPress app connection in Tumblr
- I’ve disconnected the oAuth from Tumnblr to WordPress
- I’ve cleared my cache
- I’ve tried different browsers (and cleared those caches too)
- I’ve waited for 12+ hours and tried it all again
Still it shows that I can’t do the import, due to a custom domain.
Aside from the same copy/paste responses that don’t actually fix anything, is there a real fix/solution for this?

Hello @andrewteman,
The chances are someone from the staff may have to manually restart your Tumblr import if it may have been stalled. I have tagged this post for staff’s attention. Someone from the staff will reach you shortly.
All the best.

The import isn’t stuck. The import won’t BEGIN, because the importer is saying that I have a custom domain (which I no longer do).

I understand, its not a good place to be in. I am sorry you are experiencing this error. The reason for my earlier response was keeping in mind a similar query from today posted by another user. Which later was addressed by the staff who manually reset the import for the user.
You can read the thread here:

Hi andrewteman,
I’ve reset the importer on andrewteman.wordpress.com to give you a fresh start. Can you try again and let us know if you have the same trouble?
