Tumblr import only partially worked
-
I’m trying to create an off-Tumblr archive. The importer claimed to have gotten all the posts, but I don’t see all of them in post editor (despite it listing the correct number) AND only a fraction of my images came over. Many posts have broken formatting as well. I’ve tried this twice with two different sites, both had the same problems. I have no clue what I’m doing wrong.
I do have the .zip directly from Tumblr but I can’t find anywhere to input that.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Sorry to bump, but I never got a response. Is this kind of thing a known issue with the importers? (I would really rather not reformat and redo all the media additions for 600+ posts…)

Hi there! Looking at the site I see 680 post imported – and then another ~500 in the trash. It’s possible the import was still processing when you saw that in-between state but it’s difficult to tell.
Can you tell me if all the posts have now come across? How many are you expecting to be imported?
I also wasn’t able to find any specific examples where the images weren’t loading – are you able to share any specific URLs and I can take a closer look? -
Well good news, it looks like much more came through alright than it initially appeared! Those two posts I linked you to were years older than the others– could it be they contained different code than the posts that came later?
I’ll still have to go through and tidy up here and there, but it’s looking much more manageable.

That sounds like great news! It’s possible the fact they were older could have an impact – or possibly it sounds as though the import was just still in process.
If you do come across any problematic posts – please feel free to reply here again with them. -
I’ve gone through and tidied up now, so I’m happy to stick a fork in this and call it done.
