Tumblr Importer Stuck, Won’t Reset

  • Unknown's avatar

The tumblr import tool says ‘If your import gets stuck for a long time or you would like to import from a different Tumblr account instead then click on the ‘Clear account information’ button below to reset the importer.’

I press the button and it won’t let me restart a different download, even hours later. I tried clearing cookies, cache, disconnecting and reconnecting from both WP side and Tumblr side, i made a whole second WP account to see if it would work, and it’s still stuck.

When I tried to do Tumblr things via a different tool on a different site, there was a Tumblr-side issue where it returned urls that look like ‘http://https://my blog url.tumblr.com’ and so broke that tool (IFTTT was the tool). I wonder if the same thing is happening here at WordPress, stalling the download tool?

  • Hi there,

I’ve reset the Tumblr importer for your site so you can try again.

If it seems to take long, please be patient and don’t try cancelling the process yourself – we’re experiencing a high volume of imports from Tumblr at the moment causing a backlog of pending imports in our system. The imports are being run in the order they are submitted.

If the new import doesn’t complete within 24 hours, please let us know.

    Hello,

I’ve run into the same issue. I authorized Tumblr to read/write access on my WordPress.com site (http://wrestlingsubmission.wordpress.com) and let the Tumblr importer run overnight, probably for at least 10 hours, but it still read that 0 posts/drafts had been imported. Thinking that it just got stuck and I needed to reset it, I pressed “clear account information” and disconnected the Tumblr from my WordPress site.

Then, when I went back to re-authorized access, reconnect and begin the import process again, I now get an error message “You can only have one running import at a time. Please wait for the current one to complete. If you need any further assistance please contact support.” But it doesn’t even look like any import process is underway (because it doesn’t say “in progress” anymore), and it won’t let me start the import process again now.

Could you please help me reset whatever is blocking this so that the import process (for the above-linked WordPress.com site) can begin again?

    Thank you for your help!

  • @wrestlingsubmission actually yours is still queued up. We’re processing quite a few imports from Tumblr at the moment, which is causing a backlog of imports in our system. While it may look like your import failed, it’s likely just in line for processing. Please allow this to run for the next 24 hours, and if it hasn’t completed by then, update us here.

Hi @supernovia and @kokkieh, thanks for the help.

It’s stuck again, and has been for over 2 days now, at 3k posts, I would appreciate another nudge, if doing so would be helpful. Also, is there a post limit for a free WordPress blog?

  • Hi there,

It appears the Tumblr import on your site has failed after importing around 3200 posts, so I’ve reset the importer so you can try again.

If it seems to take long, please be patient and don’t try cancelling the process yourself – we’re still experiencing a high volume of imports from Tumblr at the moment causing a backlog of pending imports in our system. The imports are being run in the order they are submitted, but it could be a few days before your new import is processed.

If some posts have already imported they will be skipped by the importer during your next attempt, so they should not be duplicated.

There’s no post limit, but there is a 3GB limit for media files. So if you hit that limit no more images will be imported, but the posts themselves still will be.

You’re currently at around 63% of your media storage. You can increase that by purchasing any paid plan.
