turn off all comments on old and new posts

  I want to turn off all comments on old and new posts. The comment option is still showing up even after I have unchecked all the boxes as described in Enable/Disable Comments. Please give concrete steps on how to turn the comments off completely.

  The boxes you unchecked just disable the option on future posts.

  You’ll ned individually disable comments on existing posts as described at http://en.support.wordpress.com/enable-disable-comments/#enabling-and-disabling-comments-using-the-discussion-module
