turn off all comments/replys

hello – i see in several forums that there should be a box i can uncheck under settings – discussion that says “allow comments”. i don’t have this box.
i’d like to remove all of the “leave a reply” and comments boxes from the bottom of each page.
do i have to upgrade?

No upgrade is required.All WordPress blogs by default have comments open on all Pages and Posts. Your visitors click the post tiles or the comment links or comment bubbles on the front page of the blog and they are directed to the full post appearing on it’s own page where the comment boxes appear at the end of the posts.
You can enable and disable comments on free hosted WordPress.com blogs on this page > Settings > Discussion Discussion settings is where you set up defaults for comments.
