Turn off automatic numbered lists
-
I read an old Forum post that said the Markdown feature can be used to make numbered lists automatic, but I don’t have that feature turned on, so why are my manually typed numbers turning into an indented list? When I try to deselect the numbered list button, it removes my numbers.
You can see the list I don’t want at the bottom of this page:
I’m trying to recreate the text of handwritten letters and the indented list is not what the writer intended.
Thank you

@ Barbara:
Can you open up and edit that post, and switch to the HTML/text tab?
https://en.support.wordpress.com/editors/Once you do, look for the < ul > and < / ul > tags, as well as the < li > and < / li > ones. Please delete them, and press save/publish.
Then go back, and try using the span tags that are referenced in this thread.

Yes, I did that and guess I could have figured that one out, too. I thought maybe there was a way to turn off the automatic listmaking. Probably it won’t come up often in my work, but I will remember to change it manually in the text tab if it does.
Thanks.
