I just started building my site on WP and was wondering, how do I turn off the live “coming soon” page?

A bit of background: I am currently on the free wordpress.com plan but plan to upgrade once I have the site close to ready. Anyways, now that I am building my site, I noticed that mysite.wordpress.com leads to a live “coming soon” page. I don’t want anything pertaining to my site to be accessible in the live environment whatsoever yet. How do I turn the “coming soon” page off? Note also that I have no plugins installed whatsoever.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there!

Your site content is not ‘live’ until you launch your site. The Coming Soon page is displayed until your site is launched.

You can launch your site and immediately set it to private, which shows a different page. But your site will always have a live page displayed with a notice.

With the “Coming Soon” mode, the page shows ‘Coming Soon.’ With the private mode, the page will look like this.

Here’s how to launch your site and change its privacy settings afterward:

Your site’s Privacy settings control who can view your site, allowing you to make the site public, private, or “Coming Soon”. This guide explains each setting you can use on your site. Visit Settings Launch Your Site Launching your site means you are ready to share it with the world. To launch your site, go to Settings → General and click the Launch site button. If you do not see this

However I don’t want anything to be visible online publicly whatsoever. like if someone types pubcrawltoronto.wordpress.com into a browser I want them to be greeted with a generic “this site can’t be reached” error or something like that. How can I set that up?

    Hi there,

Now that the site exists, I don’t think it will be possible to hide it entirely unless you use a plugin that adds a custom landing page where you can add “this site can’t be reached.” This option would require the Creator Plan, which allows you to install plugins:

Hope this helps. Let us know if you have any questions. Thank you!
