Turn off the You Make Like section!

How do I get rid of that? It’s extremely annoying and is even suggesting sites I desubscribed from because there were sexist posts and comments on those sites. I want to get rid of it asap.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I am tagging this thread for a Staff response. I also want the ability to KILL that feature ASAP.

I too would like to be able to get rid of the You May Like. I am also seeing sites I have stopped following.

@Staff
Do not need.
Do not want.
I know how to use search engines and find related blogs easily. It comes with the territory of being a librarian who is a contracted researcher and writer.
Please provide an opt out feature. The problem for me is that as bloggers create their own tags and categories, and as many assign inappropriate categories and tags, and as the spammers always assign the largest topics, and as it takes ToS time to respond to our spam blog reports, this feature is not only useless to me — it’s annoying.

Hi there!
Thank you all for the feedback.
This is a new feature that is in limited testing right now and I’ve let the team know about your concerns with disabling this feature and with receiving recommendations for blogs you’ve unfollowed in the past.
In the meantime, if you click the X in the upper right of the suggested blog, that blog will not be suggested for you in the future.

My biggest problem with this ‘you may like’ feature is that very one mentioned at the start. I write my blog, as I’m sure many others do, in a way that is ok for my own young kids to read.
If they look up their family blog while they are at school and see ‘you may like’ there, who know what sort of things they will be directed to, seemingly recommended by a parent!I know they can look up inappropriate things just by typing them in, but for kids to be sent there by someone who seems to be their mum or dad is not good at all.

I agree with you, metan1. If this was strictly based on our interests (which I assume they use categories/tags for this purpose), I would not mind. But they throw in Freshly Pressed and I avoid ever going there to begin with. I cannot X enough of them out, but yet just more Freshly Pressed comes up.

helper-heroponriki Thanks for your response. The other problem with this feature is it’s distracting. I don’t enjoy seeing huge photos of unfamiliar faces on the Reader. I don’t want to have to hit the little “x” every time an annoying or offensive site comes up. There’s no end to them.
Also I’m generally frustrated that instead of listening to the users, WP continues to add unwanted features. I’m now a paid user (the function I paid for did not work by the way so there’s money down the drain) and the minute I find a better platform I’m probably going there, and so are the rest of us former Vox users.

The last couple days I’ve risked clicking on a couple of the You may like, those not Freshly Pressed. Would you allow us to make the option of not seeing certain categories? There are a few of more popular ones that I have no interest in whatsoever. Titles alone rarely give a clue what something is about.
I am still seeing blogs I have stopped following.
Thank you. :)
