Turning a blog into a POD book
-
I’ve been wondering if it’s possible to turn a blog into a POD book, via Lulu or some other print-on-demand publisher.
On the surface, it looks easy enough: create a theme that would show whole entries (no “more” tag) in chronological order, between dates specified by the blog owner. When this is chosen, it duplicates the blog between those dates and creates a PDF file which would work with Lulu’s guidelines (or whichever POD publisher is willing to work with WordPress.) The blog owner then transfers the file over to Lulu, provides cover art (whatever the person wants) and then orders a book.
No cost whatsoever to WordPress, and maybe you guys can even make some money from “referral fees” from Lulu. Most of us wouldn’t be selling more than three or four copies of our own weblog (to ourselves, for example, or our kids or our parents) so we wouldn’t need ISBN numbers, and we wouldn’t have to worry about copyright issues.
I’d be right there to get a printed copy of my own blog, and I imagine many others would as well!
(Obviously hyperlinks wouldn’t work. Users could choose to include all comments or no comments.)
What do you think?
