Turning older posts into a split after they are on the landing page

  Sorry if this has already been discussed. I am new here. I like having the new blog post on the landing page but is it possible to have the older posts below it be link or look like a split or do I have to go into the old post and split it? I want to make it easier for whoever reads my blog to see older posts without having to scroll down and look through all my content and pictures.

  There are a few themes that do this automatically, though even your latest post will be an excerpt.

  For category and archive pages only, your theme can use the custom excerpt function.

  Otherwise, you would have to put the next page split in by hand.
