Tutor LMS can’t edit without Admin permissions

I want to use Tutor LMS to create courses. If I have another user as an Editor, they can’t view existing courses or edit them. They also get a “Permission Denied” error when editing directly through the website. The only solution to this will be if they are given administrator privileges, which is something I want to avoid doing. Is there a way to allow them to have editor rights to a course?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You can try the User Role Editor plugin (https://wordpress.org/plugins/user-role-editor/) to give them maximum privilege for the Tutor LMS plugin, but they won’t get same level of access for other WordPress Settings.

  • Hi @jamesbolis

Apologies, but we can’t help with your issue directly because we don’t host jamesbolis.com on our WordPress.com managed hosting.

To explain, we are a fully managed hosting provider and use a custom server environment that is optimized for WordPress, provides built-in security and performance improvements, as well as in-house support for your site questions. You can learn more about the performance and security benefits of our managed hosting here: https://wordpress.com/hosting/

Because of the way we’ve optimized our service, we also use a customized version of WordPress that is different (under the hood) from what you use at your current provider. As a result, we do not have access to your site and are not familiar with the source of your issue.

You definitely have the option to move your site to us so we can provide in-house help, and we offer a migration plugin that will help you move your site to our managed hosting in just a few clicks.

Use the Move to WordPress.com plugin to migrate a self-hosted WordPress site to WordPress.com. Follow the steps in this guide to import your site (including your content, media, plugins, and theme) directly from your wp-admin dashboard. Unfortunately though, as it stands now, we are not able to help since it is hosted elsewhere. I did take a little time to read your post however, and can see you are using the TutorLMS plugin. The issue you are referring to sounds like a permissions issue related to your plugin. I would recommend contacting Tutor LMS support directly, to see if permissions can be modified within the pluign itself, or if they recommend a 3rd party permissions plugin you can use.

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.

  • Hi @faisalahammad it’s worth noting that jamesbolis.com is not actually hosted on WordPress.com, so this is not the best place for help. You can confirm here that their site is using nameservers from Hostgator: https://www.whois.com/whois/jamesbolis.com

    Thanks!
