  is there a tutorial that will show me how to find blogs from people with common interests?

  You can always check the global tags page on WordPress.com, for example: (warning, personal bias ahead) http://en.wordpress.com/tag/drums/

  @vanillalounge…I’m recently returning to WordPress after a brief hiatus, so I’m curious, what happened to the “search” box in the user admin header? And while I’m on the topic of “where is”, where is the direct link to the wordpress homepage that used to be in the “my account” dropdown in the admin header? It appears now I have to scroll around to find a link, and I can’t find a wordpress “search” box for the life of me.
