Thank you very much for your help.
One question though: I do not really care about blogs- all I want to create is a website dedicated to my family history.
Did I come to the right place or all wordpress done is creating blogs ?
    Please help me to understand.
    Thanks again.

You can absolutely still create a full website rather than a blog. What you’ll need to do is when creating your site, concentrate on creating pages (go to your Dashboard >> Pages rather than Dashboard >> Posts). Once you have a page that you want to be your main page, you can set it to come up first by following the instructions right here:

    Set the Homepage

You can also set your site to have a custom menu to guide your viewers through your various pages by following these instructions:

    Menus

Thank you so much. You provide a great help for me.
Still more questions if I may:
1.I need to create link from the specific words on my page which would point directly to this word on another page that I created (similar to feature ”FIND” on Microsoft word or EXCEL,etc. .Does WP have this capability?

2.I found out that I loosing formation when I copy and past from Microsoft Word to WordPress editor.
Does WordPress support any editing software or Adoby Acrobat for the purpose not to loosing formating?
Thank you again for your continius support.

    Hiya,

In regards to question 1, we have something called Page Jumps (or anchor links) which allow you to link to a specific place on any page. It might be what you’re looking for. You can find a help article right here:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/page-jumps/

In regard to point 2, any word processor (such as Microsoft Word) works in a completely different way as an editor for the web. So when you paste any posts written in Word it will look different online. In fact, the code from your Word document can actually break your website if you just paste directly in to your WordPress editor and we strongly recommend you not do so.

We do have a robust editor which you can use to create your posts. If you need to create in Word, you can do so, but you should use the “Paste as Text” button to remove any potentially-harmful formatting: http://en.support.wordpress.com/microsoft-word/
