I need tutorials for GeneratePress theme. I don’t know what “widgets” are. I need to start working on my wife’s art gallery site, and I am nowhere. Will someone please tell me what tutorial to use? I’m just sitting here looking at the screen.

Generate Press is a 3rd party theme for information about the theme and its functions and set up please head to the theme creators website and check out the documentation section under Help: https://generatepress.com/.

I’d be inclined not to complicate matters too much with tutorials at first. Why not get started with posts (just like you did with martinjryansamerica.com.) displaying the art for the new site. You’ll be happier when there is something tangible visible on the Internet. You have access to Livechat support from staff too don’t forget.
PS: You can remove or edit the footer widgets via “Customize” “Widgets”.
