Tweeting from Blog picks up long-deleted blog text in Twitter Card
-
Thanks in advance for any help on this. It might be a Twitter issue rather than WordPress.com but even indication as to that would quench my curiosity!
Yesterday I tweeted a blog post via the Sharing button at the bottom of my own post. The tweet went out fine but on the twitter card rather than pick up the ‘Excerpt’ text or even the first couple of lines from the blog post itself, it picked up the old text from the post as I’d written it ages ago.
Is there anyway to force it to pick up new text or, ideally, the Excerpt text?
Note: This was the tweet https://twitter.com/woodadam_/status/798101350525583360 sent from within the Twitter sharing ‘app’ on the wordpress.com site/page: https://architectureandeducation.org/2015/06/05/zigzag-white-no-life-a-martians-view-of-architecture/
Finally, I had once tweeted this block post in the same manner a year ago when it had no excerpt and where the Twitter card text matched the first line or two of the blog post. So maybe Twitter or WordPress.com ‘freezes’ the text that goes in the Twitter card at that point. But that seems odd and wrong!
Sorry, bit complicated but hope it makes sense. Thanks all

Hi there,
So maybe Twitter or WordPress.com ‘freezes’ the text that goes in the Twitter card at that point.
Twitter does. When you share a link, they fetch a preview for that link and then cache it on their side so they don’t need to fetch the info again every time someone shares that same link.
If you run that post’s URL through the Twitter Card Validator it should reset the cached info and fetch a new preview for the post.
