Tweets Not Displaying Correctly
-
Hello, for some reason, all of our Tweets do not show up properly in the wordpress.com article form. Instead of showing the displayed version of the tweet (as it does on elitesportsny.com, the domain), it shows up in blockquote form. I’ve also noticed this in some RSS feeds, but not all.
What can I do to avoid this? I’ve tested both EMBEDDING the code and using the URL shortcut, and still, the same results. Additionally, embedding the code isn’t a great idea for us because the blockquote version of the tweet shows up in Google AMP versions while placing the URL shortcut has Google AMP versions showing the displayed tweet in the proper fashion.
Thanks,
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

For which WordPressdotcom site do you need help?
The two sites mentioned in your above post elitesportsny.com and thebasketballnetwork.com are not hosted here.
For clarity, standalone WP (org) and WordPressdotcom (where we are) are different entities with separate documentation and support forums; more information about the differences can be found here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

I don’t even know how The Basketball Network got in there. Elite Sports NY is the site and yes, it’s a self-hosted site. But I’m referring to is the connection I have from the site to wordpress.com that showcases each article. And if you note (as I’m not allowed to upload a screenshot here), in an article that showcases a TWEET, the embedded tweet shows up as a blockquote instead of how it should display (as a regular tweet). That’s what I’m trying to get resolved. Thanks.

Do you mean how your site appears in the WordPressdotcom Reader? https://wordpress.com/read/feeds/35921853 If so, I’ll go ahead and tag this for Staff input.

Correct. How it displays in the WP.com reader. It’s displaying as a Blockquote when it shouldn’t. On our domain, it displays fine. Thanks.

OK-thanks for the additional link. I see the embedded tweet in that post in both Chrome 59.0.3071.115 and FF 54.0.1 (temp screenshots)
How are you viewing that post in the Reader? Have you tried refreshing your browser window? Sometimes the blockquote will appear for a moment and then the embed shows up.
I’ve had issues with embedded tweets at the very start of a post when displaying an excerpt of the post and not the full post.

I’m viewing it from Chrome on Desktop. It’s always been this way.
Additionally, this is critical because our WP.com is what’s connected to our Mobile APP: ESNY City Stream found on Apple and Android. If you download the app, you’ll see the tweet not rendering properly as well.
Thanks,

Hi there,
If I view your post in the Reader at https://wordpress.com/read/feeds/35921853/posts/1536301592 the tweets are showing embedded correctly to me. I checked in both Chrome and Firefox.

I checked some other posts in your site’s feed as well, and the tweets render correctly in all of them for me.
As it works for both me and @justjennifer, it tells me the problem here is in your browser not fully loading the embed code. Please try disabling all browser extensions in Chrome, or log in in an incognito tab, and check if the tweet renders correctly then.
I checked some of your posts in the Reader in the mobile app as well, and the tweets also embedded correctly for me there.
Additionally, this is critical because our WP.com is what’s connected to our Mobile APP: ESNY City Stream found on Apple and Android. If you download the app, you’ll see the tweet not rendering properly as well.
We have no control over how content on your self-hosted site renders on your third-party app, as we control neither your site nor your app. So we cannot help with that.
