Twenty eleven change in tab appearance/visibility

    Hi, I am using Twenty Eleven. I was – by chance – on my site today and saw that, out of the blue, my menu bar is no longer black, but white, and the menu items cannot be seen. I have made no changes whatsoever other than doing a new blog on July 5, when, I believe, all was exactly as it should be.
    I cannot see where to shift this.

    Another user posted exactly the same problem in 2013.

    As the person there said:

    Please help – my site is non-functional until this is sorted! Thanks.

    Note: I’d like to return the site to exactly how it was. I do not want a black surround to my page, it was all white, with only the tabs /menu bar having a black background.

    Hi there!

    We have made some changes as to what colors you can change on your site and this is a side effect of that.
    Please go to My Site>Design>Customize>Colors&Backgrounds and click on Palettes. You will see some colorful circles there. Clicking on each will tell you what color is it responsible for. You can there change the color of the desired elements.
    Make sure to click on Save Changes when you’re done.

    Ok. Well what I needed to do was to click ‘default’ other than for white surround. But I’m really not at ALL happy that this happened- I have no idea how long my site has been non-functional. Why wasn’t a notice sent out? I think WordPress needs to address this problem and make some sort of recompense.
