Twenty Eleven slider?
-
I am using the Twenty Eleven theme for my site. Does this support a slider? I would like to have some banner ads at the top of the home page, beneath the header.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Howdy,
Twenty Eleven does have a slider (instructions on how to set it up can be found under the Multiple Layout heading on this page: http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/twentyeleven/ )
That said, the slider is based on posts that you have created, so you aren’t able to upload images to create true banner ads.
Just as a head’s up too, WordPress.com doesn’t allow outside advertising on sites hosted on the platform. You can read a bit more about our advertising policy at http://en.support.wordpress.com/advertising/
Cheers!

Thanks BJ for your response.
We switched to the Expound theme, but what you described for the slider applies to Expound as well as Twenty Eleven. We will add the posts in the right sequence to get the 5th featured image as the main image on the homepage. Do the images cycle through all 5 showing one at a time in the main slider?
The “banner ads” are not really advertisements, just a way to emphasize our primary services explained in more detail elsewhere on the site.

With Expound, check out the demo at http://expounddemo.wordpress.com/
You can set a “featured tag” in your Settings->Reader page ( more instructions: http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/expound/ ), and then the five most recent posts tagged with that tag and with a featured image will appear at the top of your site.
The most recent one will have the large full-page entry, with the next four under it. Then, any other blog posts will appear below from newest to oldest.
Sounds perfects regarding the “ads”. Just wanted to be sure!
Cheers!
