twenty eleven slideshow border
-
Hi- a few months ago I was able to change the slideshow to remove the black borders. In fixing one of the slideshows (services offered-creating wildlife habitat) and re-adding the slideshow it is once again with a black border. The other slideshows are without the border still, so I am not sure what happened.
Does anyone know the code I might have used to remove the border? I can’t find anything for it.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I looked at http://brown-dirt.com/ and the slideshow on that page doesn’t have a black border. Is that the slideshow you were looking at? If you found how to fix this on your own, could you post the solution you used here so others can see it too? :)

I didn’t get it fixed– the slideshow on the main page works- the one under Services and then under Creating Wildlife Habitat isn’t. I played around with it last night–messed it up and when I re-added the slideshow the borders came back.
I am not sure what code to add to CSS that changed it originally–especially since the front page is still working.
Thanks!

I figured it out–
right after the [slideshow] I added
<p style=”width:100%;height:460px;margin-top:-500px;color:#fff;background-color:#fff;position:relative;z-index:1;”>-I don’t know what that means, but it is what was after the slideshow that was working.
So:
[slideshow] <p style=”width:100%;height:460px;margin-top:-500px;color:#fff;background-color:#fff;position:relative;z-index:1;”>-Thanks

Woah, interesting trick. :)
I think this would also do the trick for those and all future slideshows you added too. You’d want to add this to your Appearance → Custom Design → CSS page:
.slideshow-window { background-color: #fff; border: 20px solid #fff; } -

I have one more suggestion. :)
I think your home page would look a little nicer with more padding on the left so the text isn’t so close to the edge. Try adding this to see if you like it:
#content { width: 68%; margin: 0 27.7% 0 4%; }I adjusted the width and the last margin percentage a bit.

Fantastic! I was about to see about tackling that! It was a bit squished!
I’m getting ready to officially launch the business so tying up all those details!
Thanks so much! -
Good luck! Ooo, I have more ideas and suggestions (if that’s okay). :)
I tried finding a location and it was pretty hard to figure out. Maybe you could put it in the footer? Your contact page doesn’t mention a location, but I noticed the About → Background page has a lot of Seattle related links.
#site-generator:after { content: " Located in Seattle, WA."; }Is your business a local service only? If yes, you should definitely put your location in more places, and especially on the contact page. Or mention you do local in-person consultations but will review plans via email too (if you do that). :)
I think you should add back a site title and tagline on the main settings page and move them off left with CSS. That way, the text from those things will still be used in bookmarks and for search engines. If you want help with the CSS, add them back (main settings page) and then reply back here.
Did you mean to have comments enabled on the http://brown-dirt.com/mission/ page? If not, see http://en.support.wordpress.com/enable-disable-comments/ to learn how to turn them off.

Cool! Thanks- I love input– great suggestions!
I’ll do that and check on the setting stuff!
Thanks! -
For the Gallery page, I think you should make that a category page so you can add new posts to it every time you have cute new before & after pictures to post. It’d be cool to see the pictures in an actual gallery instead of embedded, I think galleries look nice and are easier to manage (just my opinion). :)
If you switched the Gallery menu item to show posts using a custom menu and set a static front page, you would have to re-style your home page though (the sidebar would go away from the home page). See http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/ to learn more about static front pages.
Hope I’m not getting too crazy. I like your business idea. I wish you lived near me! I’m opposite you :) in upstate NY.

no, really, it is great and helpful! Glad you like the idea! I’m pretty excited about it!
I added back in the settings..but not sure what you mean about them showing up…I don’t see them anywhere?
I am going to do the gallery changes too as soon as I get back from a meeting in an hour. That will take me a bit longer to move around, but what you said makes sense!
Thanks so much! (I loved upstate NY the one time I was there- beautiful!)

Ah, you’ve already got it covered in your CSS. This hides the text on the page:
#branding hgroup,#branding #searchform { display:none; }But now it looks better when bookmarking. Looks good!
Your site may just inspire me to garden this year… post-Winter of course. :)
