Twenty Eleven sticky posts
-
I am regretting moving over to Twenty Eleven – the theme has automatically put my past posts on the showcase page as ‘featured’, even though none of them are marked ‘sticky’. Damned annonying! The only way I can get them off the feature is to mark them as private. Even more annoying! I had my showcase page all set up nicely and now it’s a mess.
What am I doing wrong??? Please help.

My showcase page isn’t working like I thought either. I thought the featured image was suppose to show up on the right, however, it just shows the title and a few sentences. Why isn’t the featured image showing up?

I just figured out my problem! When you add an image, there is a separate button to push called Use as Featured Image. Seems obvious now that I write it down, but I didn’t even know that button was there!

Large images on featured “sticky” posts … To add posts to the Featured Post section just mark some posts as sticky. To have a big featured image you need to use an image that is at least as big as the header image (1000px x 288px). Also, make sure you have a set size for Large image under Settings → Media that allows for such sizes. Adding more than one sticky post will add slider controls to the top right of the featured post area as kjmadeja has said.

kiritaha, thanks for pointing out that issue! You weren’t doing anything wrong, Twenty Eleven was doing something wrong. :) It should be working as expected for you now.

@themeshaper on the Showcase area (the 1st image does not show up in Internet Explorer) but it does in Chrome. Right now when you visit my site (using I.E) and scrolled down to the show case area, it’s blank. When there should be a large image that shows up and links to a post.

Lance, do you have an answer for my question above?
“on the Showcase area (the 1st image does not show up in Internet Explorer) but it does in Chrome. Right now when you visit my site (using I.E) and scrolled down to the show case area, it’s blank. When there should be a large image that shows up and links to a post.” -
@zuaquis What browser version and OS is this occurring with? Could you make a screenshot?

@sdhiresearch You can have sidebar widgets on pages by using the Sidebar Template in the page attributes module on the Edit Page screen. Posts will only show widgets in the Twenty Eleven footer widget section.
