Twenty Fourteen: flyout menu obscured by homepage slider
-
The homepage slider of the Twenty Fourteen theme obscures the flyout menu on this website:
http://homesolbuildingsolutions.com/To see the issue in action, hover over ‘Sample Projects’ in the left-hand menu and you’ll see how elements of the slider appear over top of the flyout menu.
I see an earlier question on this topic on the forums, but it was never resolved:
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/twenty-fourteen-floating-menu-obstructed-by-slider?replies=4Given that Twenty Fourteen is a core WordPress theme, I’m surprised that no one has taken up the issue at hand. It’s not acceptable that the flyout menu from the left-hand menu in this theme is obscured by the homepage slider. The only solutions offered are workarounds that seem very poor.
Does WordPress plan to look at the underlying issue here?
We regularly customize WordPress.com sites for clients and really like the Twenty Fourteen theme. It’s very robust and flexible, which makes a bug like this one all the more irksome.
I’d be grateful of an update on this.

Hi there,
This might solve your problem:
.slider-control-paging { z-index: 1; }At first glance it doesn’t produce any unintended effects, but it makes me wonder why it had a z-index of four in the first place.
Best regards,
Michael
