Twenty Fourteen Theme- Featured Content not showing up?

I have a video post as featured content in the twenty fourteen theme and no image is showing up in the featured grid.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Have you added a featured image?
Please also check Featured Content and Featured Images section on Twenty Fourteen theme showcase page: https://wordpress.com/themes/twentyfourteen/
Have you enabled Slider or Grid layout? Seems not, but please double check. Also don;t forget to set and add a tag name for featured content. Tag name id “featured” by default and you can change it to whatever you like.
Doing all these will display the featured image on the grid or slider, whatever you selected. I tested and can confirm it works.

I did this and it works, but the picture that’s featured is showing up under my actual post and it cuts it off a bit. I don’t know why it’s doing that. The picture is already in the post so why does it show up again? It makes it seem like I have double pictures.

Okay thanks. I can see what’s happening now.
Firstly, your featured image is too small for the space available on the grid and the featured image container on the post. That’s why those slanted lines appear. You should be able to check the image sizes on https://wordpress.com/themes/twentyfourteen/ page. Sorry, I am signing off so I can’t check it for you until tomorrow.
Double pictures are because your latest post is also your featured post. So it has to appear twice: in the grid and as the featured image of the latest blog post.
You can add few more featured posts so they all appear in the grid so the latest post can sometimes go backstage. I hope you got what I mean.
