Twenty Fourteen Theme – Grid I think

Gday Something really basic, But I have had several attempts to find, locate and set up this theme migrating from a Genesis theme
I am trying to mimic what I think is the Grid at the top of this page theme which shows 2 x featured travel and 1x featured nature above the post shown on this theme site:

1. My experience is that I think I would add another widgit [but can’t from the widgit menu] or
2. add the featured content section a couple of times [no joy]
and I guess this is on a static page?I would appreciate a few driving tips of the theme of where to start and do what I am trying to achieve.
On my site Melbourne Local is my posts page and Tourist Information is the static front home page [although the latter will not remain so].

Hi there. The featured content area automatically displays on the home page of that theme. All you need to do for posts to display there is to add the featured tag to those posts and upload a featured image for those posts. You specify which tag to use and whether you want a slideshow or a grid by going to Appearance ->Customize ->Featured Content in your dashboard.

On my site Melbourne Local is my posts page and Tourist Information is the static front home page [although the latter will not remain so].
You’ll have to use the default home page for the featured content to display. You can set that under Settings ->Reading.
