Twenty Fourteen Theme Menu

Hi, I am using the Twenty Fourteen theme, no custom package though. Have been using for months, no problem, but my Top menu and Side menu’s have gone crazy today.

I created some new pages today and when updating the menu, I had real problems adding them. In the end I thought “hey, I’ll just delete them and start again”, and now I can’t make any menus with a first child, grandchild etc etc.

In the Dashboard – Appearance, Menu, it only lets me add one level to the menu, then when I save it it just goes back to one level of the menu. Previously I could make 4 levels in the menu.

While I have been trying to fix this I ended up with a massive single level menu on the top and the side.

I ended up deleting both the top and side menus and now it has reverted back to a previous old version of the top menu, without a side menu, which I guess is better than nothing. Though I can’t see this menu setup in the Appearance – Menu area.

Can you please help, I think my theme has corrupted menu’s or something??

    Thank you

I think I added an extra level of the hierarchy to the top menu, when I compare my setup to the Theme Demo version – could this have killed my menu setup? Adding an extra level to the top menu when the theme didn’t like it?

This extra level setup is the one shown in my current menu under “Egress Group Pty Ltd”

Still not sure where my current menu is coming from – as the order has changed too… :(

Maybe current top menu is created using my Page structure?

I have fixed this by removing the 4th level of pages, then rebuilt the menus.

    Hi there,

Sorry for the late reply. Is everything working okay for you? If not, please let me know and I’d be happy to take a further look!

    Cheers!

hi, yes, I worked it out. I think I broke the theme by adding another level in the Top Menu, then making lots of pages at this “wee little baby page” level.

This is ok for the Side menu, but it caused problems as I added more pages to the Top menu.

In the end I deleted all menus, changed the “parent” page for those lower level pages (up one level) then rebuilt menu and moved all those “wee little baby pages” up one level and it fixed everything. strange… all good now.

    thanks for the msg.
