Twenty Fourteen Theme pushed to the left, not centered
-
Hello,
We’ve been using this theme since 2014 and had no problems with it being centered. When I visited the site recently, it’s now pushed to the left and no matter how much I try to customize it, there’s seems to be no way of making the site centered. Is there a bug in the theme or is this WordPress’ way of prompting us to upgrade?
Unfortunately, we don’t generate money from this site and spending $40 per month just to center the site is not worth the money.
Do we have options in order for the site to look centered? Thank you everyone.

Hi there,
This is what I’ve found about this theme’s alignment. It’s been a few years since it was released, but if I recall correctly the off-center design of the theme was meant to be a point of difference between it and the other default themes (which typically use a more centered layout) so for that year specifically the theme was intentionally designed as left-aligned to be different. You can read the whole thread here
When was the last time you saw it before it changed?

Hi,
That has always been the way Twenty Fourteen has looked. You can find videos from ~8 years ago on Youtube talking about the theme and its left alignment.
And in fact, here is the web-archive snapshot of your site from Sept 2014 that shows the left alignment:

There are a couple options out there to make Twenty Fourteen align center. But they all seem to require plugins. So you’d need to upgrade your site to the Business plan. If it were me, I’d either live with the left align, or look for a more recent centered theme.
