For recent posts on main page, possible to have featured image appear as well?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
Hi,
Yes, with the Twenty Seventeen theme activated, featured images set on posts will display on the posts page.
-
In order to display featured images on the blog page and archives pages, wrt the Twenty Seventeen theme, at Customize > Content Options > Featured Images, place a check in the box labeled “Display on blog and archives.”

Hi
I see that it worked on nicolecladwell.com – amazing use of the template, btw. :-)
I would like to do the same on https://ubblogtest.wordpress.com, my settings in the customizer are as you describe, but the blog posts’ pictures are not visible.
Changing ‘Blog display’ from ‘Post excerpt’ to ‘Full post’ doesn’t help, either (which is good, bc I want to use ‘Post excerpt’).
-
Correction: when I look at https://nicolecaldwell.com/blog I see that the latest blog post is displayed in footer1 (with the picture) on the main page – that’s not exactly what I want to do.

Did you sort this out? I see featured images on your blog page:

Also on the individual posts:

When the blog page is set as one of the front page sections on the Twenty Seventeen theme, the featured images will not display. The theme isn’t designed to display them there. You may use another static page to display your posts, with featured images, in a front page section by inserting Display Posts Shortcode, customized to include an image. For example, the following shortcode would list the 10 most recent posts, including thumbnail size featured images, and post excerpts.
[display-posts image_size="thumbnail" include_excerpt="true"]
The shortcode below would list the 10 most recent posts, including medium size featured images, excerpts, and dates, without bullets.
[display-posts image_size="medium" include_excerpt="true" include_date="true" wrapper="div"] -
Thank you, musicdoc1, interesting! 8)
First tests at https://ubblogtest.wordpress.com/impressum-test – I’ll tweak it a bit more before I show it on the main page.

This also was a big help: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/extra-space-between-posts
So I got this far: https://ubblogtest.wordpress.com
What I would like to change now:
– not underline the title links
– if possible, start the smaller text on a new line after the title.display-posts-listing .alignleft { float: right; margin: 5px 5px 25px 25px; } .display-posts-listing .listing-item { clear: both; padding-bottom: 40px; } .display-posts-listing .title { font-size: 120%; } -
> if possible, start the smaller text on a new line after the title
solved with the help of https://theme.co/apex/forums/topic/changing-css-options-for-recent-posts-shortcode:
.display-posts-listing .listing-item .title { display: block; font-size: 120%; margin-bottom: 10px; } -

`
.display-posts-listing .excerpt-dash {
display: none;
}

Since I’m unfamiliar with custom CSS, I’ve called for staff attention to the topic. Please wait for staff to respond. You may also submit your questions regarding CSS code to the CSS Customization forum.

Thanks a lot, musicdoc1.
All I’m missing by now is how to get rid of the line under the blog post titles on https://ubblogtest.wordpress.com.
-
A warning for others taking that approach: often I don’t see the changes I made and it’s a cache problem of the main page.
Most of the times it helps when I save the page again which has the code “[display-posts …” – also if the change I made was not on that page.

@manuschwendener: Could you make a post over in the CSS forum for the CSS changes you need? We can assist you there with those changes.
