Twenty Sixteen — adding author

  • Unknown's avatar

I’m new to WordPress, and I’d like to add my authorship to each blog post as pictured in the Twenty Sixteen theme template. Just can’t seem to make sense of it though. Thanks.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

To add author name to each post you need to go to
My Sites>Customize>Content Options. Under content options, you will get an option to display author and other details with the blog post. You can simply tick the checkbox of display author so that author name will be displayed along the post.

    Thanks.

The box is checked, but it still doesn’t show. There must be something else I need to do. In fact, I’ve had that box checked since I started using this theme.

    Hi there,

The author name is displayed on the blog post and not the blog page.
You can check your blog post here where the author name is displayed:
    https://thewhitewhale.net/2019/01/13/the-journey-begins/

So you need to create blog post that need to be displayed in menus so that author name will be displayed.

    Thanks.

So obviously there is something I’m not doing correctly. But I haven’t figured it out yet. I’m such a newbie–please forgive me.

I want my blog website to only feature my current blog post. You seem to suggest, however, that I haven’t set this up correctly. And today, when I published my second post, which I had scheduled to publish automatically this morning, it didn’t appear to publish at all. I just published it, nevertheless, but it’s at the top of the website page and the earlier blog post is below it. I’m not sure how to correct this in the options. It’s weird, too, that the previous blog is titled “the journey begins” which was the title of the template’s blog post. How do I correct this mess?

So I guess I’m trying to create a front page that looks just like a blog page. I understand that when I click on the title or the date, it takes me to the blog page, where I can see my gravatar and authorship. I’d like to just get that on front page, too. Options?

    Hi there,

I want my blog website to only feature my current blog post.

You can go to My Sites>Customize>Homepage Settings and select latest post to be displayed on home page. (you can select to have the site open on the blog posts page instead of a static page)

when I published my second post, which I had scheduled to publish automatically this morning, it didn’t appear to publish at all. I just published it, nevertheless, but it’s at the top of the website page and the earlier blog post is below it. I’m not sure how to correct this in the options.

Posts are what make your blog a blog — they’re servings of content that are listed in reverse chronological order on your blog’s front page (you can change the default order to list posts chronologically using these instructions).

It’s weird, too, that the previous blog is titled “the journey begins” which was the title of the template’s blog post. How do I correct this mess?

It seems you have corrected this, now when I check your site there is no blog titiled ‘the journey begins’. You have changed it to ‘john-jacob-astor’.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks.

Thanks so much for help. There’s definitely a learning curve here, and I understand a little more each day. The Twenty Sixteen Theme doesn’t appear to have Homepage Settings that I can customize. I really liked this theme, but I’m feeling some limitations as I learn it more and more. I may have to find another theme with more room for customization or resign myself to the Frontpage/Homepage not being exactly the way I want it.

I appreciate your help. I welcome other suggestions.

    Hi there,

The Twenty Sixteen Theme do have Homepage Settings.
Go to My Sites>Customize. Once you click on customize, you will get homepage setting option at the second-last row.

    Thanks.

I looked for the Homepage settings as you said, but there aren’t any. Widgets and AMP are the last two settings in customize.

Does anyone have suggestions for a theme that is similar to Twenty Sixteen but with a fewer limitations?
