Twenty ten

In Reading Settings, I can’t get the summery function or the most amount of blog pages function to work. The front page still shows the whole article and it still shows all of the blog articles.
Thanks -John
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

There are two setting on that page. One is for choosing how many posts to display one your front page and one is for settings how many appear in the Syndication RSS Feed.
Blog pages show at most __ postsSyndication feeds show the most recent __ items
For each article in a feed, show

So then the blog post that shows up on the home/front page will not show up in a summary format with a read more at the bottom? I figured out how to only get one at a time to show up but having the whole article show up will make the page long as heck. I started a new blog that is a creative writing experiment. I clicked on the “For each article in a feed, show” summary button and then save. No dice.

The Twent Ten theme does no automatically provide excerpst of post on the front page of the blog. Only a few themes do and it’s not oneww of them. To have aonly the beginning of the post display on the front page you have to edit the post and insert “the more tag”. http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/
Alternatively if you want to select text that’s not at the beginning of the posts then you have to copy and paste the ext excerpt into the Excerpt box below the editor to have it display on the front page.
As I said above the RSS Feed and the front page posts are two different settings. Setting your RSS feeds to summary will not affect the front page display of the posts. It’s only for the display in the RSS feed.

I’m happy I helped you. You’re welcome and happy blogging. :)
P.S. I can recommend a comprehensive tutorial. The Learn WordPress.com tutorial is divided into progressive levels and presented as a series: http://learn.wordpress.com/
