twenty ten gallery problem
-
hello…
I’m still working on this site http://i2isouthhookgas.wordpress.com for a client.. At some point it’ll go live when the client approves it!
I’m having a problem which re-occurs every now and then… If I add a post which has been set as a gallery, that has an image inserted, sometimes the image fails to appar as a thumbnail in the list of posts… This happened twice today and once a week ago. I have no idea how to fix it, If I delete the post completely and re-post sometimes it will work properly and sometimes it wont.
Right now on the homepage there a 3 posts – the 1st 2 wont display a thumbnail but the 3rd one will – I’m a bit lost
Anyone seen this before?
thanks in advance
Rick

You’re talking about the gallery format option, not the gallery feature. For a thumbnail to show up, the image must be attached to the post, which means uploaded from your computer via the Add an Image tool of that post.

I’m confused… I added the image from the media library which I had previously uploaded. Isn’t that the way it works? Does this mean that two posts can’t share the same image? But it has to be uploaded twice…?

Images are automatically attached to the post or page they were uploaded on.
If you upload an image directly to the media library, it won’t be attached to any post until you insert it into a post (or page).
Once an image is attached, it stays attached. It can, however, be used in more than one post, in many posts even.
But if you want an image thumbnail using the gallery feature, then it must be attached to that post.

sorry to confuse, I meant:

Ok this explains a lot – I hadn’t really understood that before!
I will fix this site tomorrow
Thanks for your help… As usual, I am not worthy!
