Twenty Ten: Some widgets required on front page?
-
I was removing widgets from my blog that uses Twenty Ten:
http://partialfunctions.wordpress.com/The front page still has Search, Archives, and Meta widgets in its (right) sidebar. I don’t find these on my Widgets page. Is there someplace else where I can turn them off, or are they required?
Thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

No they are not required. You ought to be able to remove theme at > Appearance > Widgets and install only the ones you want to appear there. To eliminate all widget display put an empty text widget at the top of the sidebar. For more widget tips see here > http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2013/08/02/8-hot-wordpress-com-widget-tips/

Yes, that works, thanks. (It still leaves a blank space on the right, though. I think I picked the wrong theme. There are so many to choose from!)

There will always be a blank space on the right that you cannot blog in when you eliminate all widget display put an empty text widget at the top of the sidebar . The only way to change that on any theme is to purchase a custom design upgrade and do the required CSS editing. if you want a single column free theme without a sidebar then check these ones out > http://en.wordpress.com/themes/filter/staff-picks+one-column/type/free/
