Twenty Ten Theme problem
-
When clicking on “Twenty Ten” theme to view what it would look like, it only shows the bottom of the whole photo of the trees without the row of trees and the person in the background. Why doesn’t the whole photo on the presentation of the theme show? I would like to use the whole photo or something like that row of trees.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

We cannot see the blog in question and tha makes helping you difficult. The blog linked to your username is wearing Solopsis and not Twenty Ten. Suffice to say that every theme has height and widgth specififcations in pages and posts. These days we are experiencing bloggers posting to the forum who want to be able to display GUGE images on small themes. Worse still they are failing to optimized and presize those images to actually “fit” prior to uplaoding them. When they do that and the image is oversized the cropper comes into play and image quality it slost.
maximum image width by theme see here > Maximum displayed image width -
I have not activated the theme, yet. When previewing it, it is only showing the bottom of the trees and not the photo displayed as is when browsing the various themes. If you would go to the themes and click on preview, you would see what I am talking about. Perhaps the whole photo is not meant to show?

Just to be clear we Volunteers cannot see any “preview”. Only you can see it. If you post a link to a screenshot then we will know what you are referring to. http://en.support.wordpress.com/make-a-screenshot/
Also note that images display differently in different browsers and you could have a browser issue. Have you tried logging out of wordpress.com and clearing your cache and cookies and themn logging it again? http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/
Tip: As we can all register as many blogs as we wish we Volunteers have “test” blogs with the visibility settings on “private”. That enables us to check our any new themes, images, widgets etc. in our “test” blogs before we implement them on our main blogs. You may wish to consider doing the same.

@festivalstrings, there are a several different headers included with 2010 and there are two with trees. One, the cropped closeup, and then another that shows a long drive or walkway with trees on each side. The theme preview does not pull up the header image with the long walk/drive. It pulls up the cropped enlarged image.
Take a peek at one of my test blogs: http://allthekingshorses.wordpress.com/ . Is that the image you are wanting to use? If so, you can choose that image at appearance > header after you activate 2010 (if it doesn’t come up as the default when you activate the theme).

Yes it is the one I was looking for. In addition, I went to where Timethief suggested:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/I cleared the cache and cookies and now when going to the forum, it appears that the main appearance of that part of WordPress is gone and it is very plain now–I hope you know what I am trying to describe.

Yes… the dashboard, “support” link to the support area is intact, but as I am now in the “forum” part or when I click on the “forum” tab, it is all very plain and everything is to one side.

@festivalstrings, try taking a look at the forum with Safari to see if this is a browser related issue or a general issue from your location.
-
-
Then it is a Firefox issue.
In firefox, log out, clear your browser cache and cookies, shut down firefox then restart it and try again.

Hey Sacred Path, I did activate the Twenty Ten with a different header of the long row of trees and it worked—another simple thing :-) I am experimenting with different themes and I am trying to incorporate stringed instruments until my client can get me some photos of them with their instruments as I only have one. So… I was wondering if I could crop my client’s trio photo with their stringed instruments into the twenty ten theme photo of trees somehow or have the man in the background of the long row of trees walking with a violin or something.
-
You’re welcome.
One thing you might think about is creating another blog on your account and setting it to private. You could have the URL be anything such as mytestblog123.wordpress.com and that way you could try themes and such on that test blog without having to worry about doing it on your live site.

Okay but can I crop my client’s trio photo with their stringed instruments into the twenty ten theme photo of trees somehow or have the man in the background of the long row of trees walking with a violin or something?
-
Okay… so you are saying that it is not possible with Twenty Ten or any theme unless it has a custom header image in which Twenty Ten does not.
