Twenty Ten Theme

    @timethief, thanks for your suggestions! I reported the problems. I never rule out user error, but the picture issue really bothered me. The operating systems were identical, the difference was in screen resolution. Even when I reduced the screen resolution, I still got:

    TEXT . . .
    PICTURE
    . . . TEXT

    When the text should have wrapped around the picture. Your comments helped me clarify my statement to support.

    Thanks again!

    @frohockt
    I hope you did not report the hover over link pop-up box as being problematic. It may not be aesthetically appealing to you but as a visually challenged person I would hate to see the accessibility it provides to viusally challenged readers removed. :(

    In these front page posts on your blog here > http://crimsonveil.wordpress.com/ using a Firefox 3..6.4 browser I believe I am seeing the text wrapping around every image. Which browser and version of it are you using?

    I just wanted to give my thanks for the Home tab solution you talked about above. I now have a Home tab so that folks can easily get back to my home page from anywhere on my site http://bonappetithon.com

    @timethief, first, my apologies! I figured out why the links were taking me back to my old theme (let’s hear it for the html impaired!) — my test blog is crimsonveil, but the links were going back to helluo librorum where I still have Cutline. Duh!

    I’m going to try this again and change the theme.

    I’m wondering if something didn’t go wacky when I changed the theme the first time.

    Also, in regard to your concern about the link pop-up — no, I did not report that as a problem, because I read your earlier response to another member of the forum. As someone who is hearing impaired, I’m highly sensitive to those things that make it easier on anyone no matter whether they’re visually or other impaired. I can live with the little pop-up tag! ;-)

    I’m going to try it again. I’m using Explorer by the way and I didn’t even think to look at Firefox.

    I’ll come back and let you know if everything works out okay!

    @timethief I just figured out the problem with the picutres too. I’m clicking on left alignment in Windows Live Writer, but it’s not changing the code in the template. When I went into edit posts and manually changed the picture alignment from “inline” to “left” everything displayed properly.

    This just may be a Windows Live issue.

    Thanks for all your help!

    @Teresa
    It’s great to hear you solved your problem. Best wishes for happy blogging. :)

  • Unknown's avatar

    @timethief, I think it was already corrected..thank you anyway.

    @poorradical
    Thanks got the update. I’m glad to hear you think it was corrected. Hopefully Staff can confirm if that’s the case or not when they return to this thread. :)

    @timethief, now I’m home and all my pictures are displaying inline again. This is what’s so weird about it! With Cutline, I had a consistent view no matter where I looked at it.

    Is there some CSS code I can change to make Twenty Ten give me the same consistency?

  • Unknown's avatar

    I can’t answer that because I can’t see what you are seeing and I have no CSS expertise at all. My way of dealing with images it to use HTML tables to display them.

    I have a problem with the Search widget in Twenty Ten that I’ve also encountered with other themes. When setting up the widget, there’s a box for entering a name/title. However the default title, “Search,” continues to show along with whatever new name I’ve entered. Has anyone found a way to fix this?

    Thanks @timethief for all your help! I’m afraid that as much as I love the theme, I’m going to have to revert to Cutline. I’m also picking up more spam in my blog posts with Twenty Ten. I’ll give it a few weeks and see if they can work the bugs out of it then I’ll try again.

    Love Twenty Ten and have added the Top Posts widget to my blog http://blarneycrone.wordpress.com but my popular posts aren’t showing up. I keep getting an error message on the Twitter widget too.

    Also, how can I change the tag line that appears on the top right, above the header image???

    I think it is hard for people to see where to leave a comment, but apart from this I love the layout–thanks Matt. All advice appreciated

    Yup, this is what I see >

    keep getting an error message on the Twitter widget too.

    I don’t see that at this point in time. At present your Twitter widget appears to be displaying properly.

    how can I change the tag line that appears on the top right

    Taglines are changed here > Dashboard > Settings > 2nd line from the top and scroll down to click “Save Changes” when you are done.

    Hi Time Thief—thanks for your infoo on the tag line stuff. Any idea how I can get my top posts to display??? They come up on my back end dashboard page but twenty ten doesn’t seem to be able to see them.

  • Unknown's avatar

    Your’re welcome. No I can’t help with your Top Posts other than to say they only reflect data collected re: posts that have been viewed the most in the last 48 hours. Volunteers answering forum questions do not have backend access to blogs so if you feel that it’s a situation of “brokenness” then you will have to file a support ticket with Staff.

    I love the Twenty Ten design and plan to use it. I am very new to all of this and I easily confuse. You mentioned Asides and developing Photo Galleries. I didn’t see anything about Asides in the Widget section. Will you have detailed instructions for how to make the photo galleries?

    Also, on this site I couldn’t find a place to “Post a Comment”, only this spot Leave a Reply. Since I’m asking something new and not answering, I didn’t see a place for it.

    thanks Rita

    @nhs1963
    I do not find any “Asides” in the version of this theme we have at wordpress.COM. We can also have photo galleries regardless of which theme we choose. I suspect you are reading documentation for the wordpress.ORG version of the theme. Please post the link where you see that information stated at so we can look at this more closely.

    Hmmmm … “Leave a reply” and “Post a comment” are synonymous terms ie. they mean the same thing.
