Twenty Ten Theme

@bandel4
1. If your blog is being free hosted by wordpress.com then Staff have asked that we do not remove the link that lets our readers know they can also get a free blog and have it free hosted by wordpress.com.2. Your reference to the plugins forum is odd. Plugins can only be used on wordpress.ORG installs. Here at wordpress.COM on blog being free hosted by wordpress.COM, we do not have FTP access and cannot upload plugins into our themes.
I believe you may have failed to read the sticky post at the head of this forum. Please see > https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/please-read-me-first-before-posting?replies=1

Hi timethief…thank you for your reply. I am desperate and I really need a solution.
My blog is hosted on a external server I guess. This forum is the only one that I can find about twenty ten so far. I would still greatly appreciate it if you can help let me know how I can remove the hosting company logo.

I am enjoying using 2010 http://bearriver.ca
AND I figured out how to create a tab that said ‘blog’ and linked to the blog portion. You’ll remember that this theme launched with no ‘home’ or ‘blog’ button.
Well, now a ‘home’ button has been added……great:-) But I to change the ‘home’ button to read ‘blog’.Help!
Other than that, it’s a great theme….though I’d like it if the menu was a bit easier to read. That grey on black is tough on these old eyes. -

You can’t change the Home tab to read Blog because it’s in the template and we cannot edit templates. Sorry. :( -
Hello There,
I love the Twenty Ten Theme. It’s the best, user-friendly theme I have ever tried! I am currently making a new blog and I have a couple of small problems just for the front (home) page.
1. how can i remove the page title “home”? I went to the page.php file and tried deleting some codes but nothing seems to work. I tried changing the css to white but then my blog entry titles will be white. :/ so if someone can help me out on removing the ‘home’ title, that be so awesome!
2. is there a coding to just change the ‘home’ page’s width? I want to put a slideshow of pictures in the front page. The photos sizes are 940px wide.
3. I know the slideshow has javascript and I tried adding the javascript code in header.php but nothing seems to happen. Is there a slideshow plugin you recommend that is NOT flash? The example slideshow is on http://www.cakedla.com
As you can tell, I want to rebuild the entire website to integrate with wp and by using twenty ten. I’m just having trouble customizing the front page. :( I’ve been researching for a couple days now and nothing…
Here is the link I’m currently working on:

The site you have linked to above is not a wordpress.COM blog and we cannot help you with it at all. The differences between wordpress.ccom and wordpress.ORG are described in the sticky post at the head of this forum
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/please-read-me-first-before-posting?replies=11. how can i remove the page title “home”?
On a free hosted wordpress.COM blog you can’t. It’s not an actual page. It’s just a tab and we cannot access and edit templates underlying our themes here at wordpress.COM
2. is there a coding to just change the ‘home’ page’s width? I want to put a slideshow of pictures in the front page. The photos sizes are 940px wide.
On a free hosted wordpress.COM blog changing the width of a theme can only be done by purchasing an annually renewable CSS editing upgrade and doing the work ourselves.
3. I know the slideshow has javascript and I tried adding the javascript code in header.php but nothing seems to happen. Is there a slideshow plugin you recommend that is NOT flash? The example slideshow is on http://www.cakedla.com
On wordpress.COM blogs we cannot use javascript, embed, iframes or Flash. These are restricted codes and javascript will be stripped out by the software to presece security. Here we use the wordpress.COM shortcode is found in the sticky post at the head of the forum titled “Introducing the Slideshow Shortcode”
You are posting to the wrong support forum. The correct one for your software is here > http://wordpress.ORG/support/

I just changed our blog from Rubrick to Twenty Ten. On another blog site I use to try things out, the nested top nav bar displayed correctly. However on my “real” blog they do not. So for page numbering, is it correct to number ALL of them in the sequence I want them? Or are the nested pages numbered relative to their sequence within their parent page?
2. I notice the Visual Editor looks the same as it ever did, it does not display how the page turns out.
Thank you for your volunteer help!

Hello,
I love the lay out of the twenty ten theme. However I would llike to change the picture (now called path) on the home-page to my own logo. I have trying everyting and mabybe thiss is stupid but how do I do this? -
@debuurtboer: You create an image sized 940×198 pixels, and upload it via Appearance > Header.
-
Using Twenty Ten and couple of typekit fonts. In my homepage, searchpages etc the post-titles are rendered in my chosen font, but somehow in the single-posts (e.g. http://lovesragpicker.wordpress.com/2010/05/20/touchline/) it is not being effective. Can anyone elucidate please?
I used these selectors:
#content h2, h1 class="entry-title", h2#post-title
Can I change the font of my blog-header in Twenty Ten applying typekit?
Thanks in advance.

Anyone have a response to my questions about nested nav bar not nesting? I’m going to have to use something other than 2010 if I can’t get it to work, it looks very bad.

Thanks

1. You’re getting no dropdowns because you’ve made all your pages child pages to the “Home” page you’ve set as your blog front. The pages you want on display in the black navbar should be parent pages.
2. The editor is the same no matter what the theme. It’s not a WYSIWYG editor. If you’re not sure about the results when editing, you need to use the Preview button (or publish posts as private, check the result, make adjustments if necessary, then turn them to public).
PS I ignored you previously because you ignored the Sticky 8 Things to Know Before Posting and didn’t provide a link to your blog.

You could use this trick but we have no assurance that Staff will not remove the ability to use it in the future because it’s not an intentional use > http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2009/03/26/page-tabs-as-external-links/
-
Please! The staff should not remove this accidental ability! Only ‘Under the Influence’ has provisions for providing such external links. I must thank Panaghiotisadam for revealing this. This will be very helpful for people with multiple blogs.
-
Yes many people are using it and some have been bad guys breaching the TOS. Take a moment to think about the sites they could be linking to and recall what the TOS states here. I will not be surprised if this will be eliminated. I can understand why.
-
That’s understandable; the hack is vulnerable to misuse.
Probably WordPress can arrange for some (optional) settings through which one might provide links (in the navigation bar etc.) to other blogs registered to the username in which one is logged in. I know one can easily arrange this through a text-widget, but this hack we were talking about makes it look relatively cleaner and – I find this more attractive – one can place it in the navigation bar. -
A. What Staff choose to do or not isn’t up to us. If Staff implement the new “Edit Menu” menu in our Dashboards, then Panos’ wonderful workaround will no longer be necessary.
B. Panos, in “Twenty Ten” the Visual Editor *is* working like a WYSIWYG editor. I find it irritating because the Visual Editor no longer fills the entire width of the Editor box. But see my point A above.
